Last night we were mingling with colleagues, suppliers, llamas and penguins at a fabulous networking evening that incorporated the ACE Sustains Awards. The event was hosted by the Association of Catering Excellence (ACE) for which Cathy is a committee member.
The ACE Sustains competition was launched last year to celebrate sustainable and eco friendly initiatives within the foodservice industry. There were some fabulous ideas from the very simple (such as re-using plastic cups) to the more complex (for instance, superhero characters and reward charts for school children).
Congratulations to The Brookwood Partnership for winning both the Corporate Award for their Planet Matters initiative, and the People Award. This was won by Sandy Hayton, Chef Manager at Greenfield School in Woking.
Congratulations also to bartlett mitchell, Kent Frozen Foods, Ampersand, Vacherin and Restaurant Associates for being runners up.
All in all, it was a super evening, held on a balmy summer evening at London Zoo. We rode the carousel, petted the llama and cheered on the penguins as they dived for fish, not to mention catching up with all our catering industry friends and colleagues.
